Still fantastic results for the top guys
Cameron Cooper
???
Miller was a freshman not a recent HS graduate, he ran 1:47?! Link or it didn't happen.
LOL. Someone please change the thread title!!!
Yikes.
I was thinking a freshman had run 1:47.
Definitely made me look! Click-bait at its finest.
If Cameron Cooper just graduated from high school, this time may or may not count. It is before July 1. Going by Track and Field News's top ten list (not sure if that is up to date, the last times it includes are those of Brazier and Orange in 2015 and Torpy in 2016), this 1:47.59 is sixth all time performance, just behind Brazier's 1:47.55, and Cooper becomes the #5 all time performer. Now eleven guys have broken 1:48.

13. Dale Scott 1972 1:47.9+
Wow, of the guys on that list, only Webb and Brazier, and I guess Kersh to some extent, have fulfilled their promise.

Another vote for changing the thread title. I fell out of my f*cking chair.
Cam Cooper is basically Brazier #2. Their mile PRs are within a second, similar 400 speed, and even xc times (both in flat courses).
He has not received nearly the same hype Brazier has but I think it's because he improved a lot from his junior year.
Before we talk about over/undertrained, they both come from histprically successful middle distance/sprint schools.
Didn't see anyone talking about this, but while we are on the subject of impressive young 800m talents, Brandon Miller impressed at USA Juniors this past weekend. Recent HS graduate ran 1:48.60 for PR in prelims then PRed again the next day for the victory in 1:47.59.
He's also run 4:08... Reminds of Brazier's senior year (1:47.55 and 4:07). Michigan has loads of 800m talent.
The OP incorrectly states the name of the runner as Brandon Miller.
