That was a rocket start by Bougard, but she did not get a PB in the last 3 events (5 events are in the books now). So she is losing momentum.
Williams is having a good heptathlon of her own, so they are pretty much tied after 5 events (1 point separates them).
Williams had:
- a PB in the 100H 12.82
- a near outdoor PB in the high jump 1.82 (outdoor PB is 1.85)
- an outdoor PB in the shot 13.01
- a PB in the 200m 23.50
- an outdoor PB in the LJ 6.49
Tough to ask for more from Williams.
Williams is better than Bougard in the JT and Bougard is better than Williams in the 800m.
A coin toss will determine the winner.
So it now looks like the Williams (brother and sister) will represent the US in the combined events at WC.
Correction 1.83 in the HJ
Ok, a PB by Bougard in the JT and not a PB by Williams (but close).
Bougard will therefore win, unless Williams runs out of her minds in the 800m
William ran a new outdoor PB (2:16.4). Bougard, did not PB.
Williams therefore wins by 7 points (6564 points). It would have been a new CR had she had done this 2 weeks ago. 5th all time US performer for Williams. Bougard 6th all time US performer.
