We've been saying all spring that Korir is one the biggest talents in the history of the 800. This proves it. The two UTEP guys go 1-3 at the Kenyan Trials.

It's a shame we won't get to see Korir at the NCAA level but one of the biggest talents in history has apparently gone pro already based on this photo:

We sure hope Korir got BIG money.
BREAKING/WOW: UTEP's Emannuel Korir and Michael Saruni go 1-3 in 800 at Kenyan Trials - Korir has already gone pro!!

I also hope that gesticulating with Ereng, and doesn't change up what has obviously worked well for him.

Would it kill Nike to use a variety of dyes for their singlets? Last year it was purple. This year, this one. All but two of the 800m finalists were wearing that exact same colour.

Agreed. Wasn't the main color for Nike black last year though? Or am I thinking of something different than you.
Korir is a monster. Time to go pro. Is this confirmed yet? I know there's like a 99.9999999999999% chance he did but still. -
Can anyone confirm how many Kenyans are allowed in the 800?
I thought I understood 4 was a hard limit but Kenya, in principle, has 5 qualifiers with Ferguson R. and Rudisha having Qs -
They're only allowed 4. Either Rudisha or Cheruiyot can use the bye, but not both.
My guess is they'll take Rudisha, Cheruiyot plus top two from trials, but I'm not 100% certain on that. -

I think it's confirmed that is what's happening. Saruni is reserve. -
Saruni has had some bad luck this year.
DQ indoors at NCAAs
Tripped at Outdoor NCAAs and probably would have been second
3rd at the Kenyan trials in a year when they can take 4 guys but still ends up not on the team. -
Will King David have to hand the crown over to Prince Emmanuel in London?
-
I think that's such a stupid rule. Saruni beat Rotich, that's all it should be. Plus this was at altitude, which makes it even more impressive. Kipketer also totally STB after Rudisha in this race last summer.

There is a wild card for the WC champion.
There is a wild card for the DL champion.
Why shouldn't they both get in, plus the next three?. In principle it is illogical not to. -

countries are limited to 4 entrants even if thry have 2 wildcards. It is up to the federation to choose who to nominate. -
I know Rudisha hasn't shown form yet, but I early do hope he gets to run World's. Rotich is great but David has won the last two championships after seasons similar to this one.

Makes no sense. Who has they bye? IMO, its Rudisha and Ferugson R. Its not "Kenya" I think they would/should be obligated to send those 2 no matter what. With that established, it seems unfair to limit them to 4. What they are doing is robbing Peter to pay Paul. -

From the Iaaf perspective, Rudisha and Ferguson have automatic qualification according to their(Iaaf) rules. However the final decision is left to the federation who may replace any or both if they deem them out of shape or if any is injured. If both are replaced, of course Kenya will have to send only 3 athletes which would be the top three at the trials. But that is not going to happen as Rudisha is always ready by the time of the championships and delivers. Ferguson will be lucky to finish in the top 5 and therefore should have been replaced by Saruni, the third place finisher at the trials. Rudisha is however rooting for Ferguson's inclusion for the reason that Ferguson is a "teamplayer". Remember he blocked lane two in Beijing 2 years ago, allowing Rudisha to go for the win. If Ferguson failed to go, Rudisha will be running with strangers with all want to win just like Alfred Kipketer.

Meaning he can still make the team if he runs better times than Rotich. I'd sign him up for a few meets if I were Ereng. -
Nothing is confirmed with Kenya.
They had announced top performers in each event at the trials make the team.
By that logic, Rudisha will not be on the World Championship team for London this year.
Top 3 in the race get the 3 usual Kenyan spots.
Rotich was the top performer among the two wildcard spots since Rudisha chose not to run.
He's out. The others earned it.
(I'm sure AK will change their rules after the fact to get Rudisha in) -
Still not as fast as Brazier...

These guys are so good, the two of them took all three podium places.

and meanwhile USA runs slow 3:40's again. how can you ever expect to compete at a high level with its slow sit and kick and these guys are running 3:30's at altitude? yes i know centro ran when the planets aligned and it wasnt a 3:35 with a 51 last 400....but most the time USA style wont medal, hell running in the 3:40s and thinking your something hot wont get you out of the first round
