Granted the wind was 4.8 m/s but it was the 4th fastest 100m ever.
With no wind it still would have been a 9.88 run.

http://myweb.lmu.edu/jmureika/track/wind/Congrats to de Grasse. A solid effort wind or no wind.
He read those comments on here claiming he was not the next big thing.

With a max legal wind of 2.0 it would be a 9.79
I wonder if his work as a physicist helps with his sprinting mechanics.
Things are getting interesting after a kind of lackluster sprint/hurdle season overall... 9.79-9.88 wind-legal puts him in the running.
Will be nice to see him get a legal PR soon.
stands up well against the deleted time too.

Dare I be the first to say BOLT not on the medal stand at World Champs?
Degrasse should win the gold.
He is rounding into form nicely and at the right time. Coleman will be a non-factor as he'll be burnt out and bolt will have to fight very hard to get into the 9.7-8s.
I don't see anyone else as solid as degrasse right now.

He's a pretty impressive guy. I loved his reboot of Cosmos.
Prediction: De Grasse will be injured the rest of the season and will not win a medal in London. Wind Aided times like that lead to hamstring injuries. Remember Tyson Gay 2008 Olympic Trials?
stupid prediction.

How did you like his television show?
Definitely. Nobody who rises so fast on the scene can be clean.
This is more like a 9.9x with no wind. Wind conversions are a farce. Wind affects different athletes to varying degrees. De Grasse has proven to be a guy that gets more of a benefit from wind in the past, being a light sprinter with a high turnover. He ran a 9.75 and 19.58 a couple years back with a strong (but slightly weaker) wind when he was only in 9.9x and 19.9x shape or so at that time.
If you think De Grasse can beat Usain Bolt right now or even Coleman, you haven't been paying attention. As things stand, De Grasse is still fighting for a podium spot at WCs. Coleman will probably run 9.8x - he's run several big races, but also missed a lot of the outdoor season by design. Bolt can go 9.7x at will in a championship race.
Without wind he would have run around 10.00
Stop getting bent out of shape
2nd & 3rd at the olympics... I think he's rolling alright - If you want to get technical about the wind let's talk about the track then as well...Wish I could bet a couple $100 with you that Degrasse will eat Coleman for lunch but alas.

AGree. a bunch of no names also lit it up. All wind, ignore these times entirely.

Hope so. I'm sick of the obvious fairytale performances.

Julian Reus 9.99? Is that the first German under 10 seconds?
And only the second white European after Lematire?
Probably the only clean time in that race too.
