Every high school is different, but from my experience in high school, there would be 5-6 guys sub-12, and maybe 1-3 guys sub-5. It's kind of a trade-off though, because sub-12 requires natural-born sprint speed, and not as much hard work, whereas most kids have the necessary speed to run sub-5, but it requires much more aerobic work to get down to sub-5.
I would agree with the above and further add this:
I think naturally a sub 12 is harder than a sub 5, BUT the crop of HS athletes we see are never going to work hard enough on developing aerobially enough to get that sub 5 even if they have the ability to do it.
So I'm saying sub 5 is easier, but since a sub 12 is based off more natural speed and HS athletes have come along more anaerobically than aerobially at their age, a sub 12 would be easier.
