Only you can answer this. Is doing a 5 mile run at 7:30 pace or slower as a 2:30 marathoner going to have any benefit at all?
If not, then you're just running to run and, possibly, negatively affecting your performance during later, more intense workouts.
Respectfully, I disagree. Slow running can improve endurance more than just sitting on the couch, even at 2 to 3 minutes per mile below goal pace. There are physiologists who can explain this better than I. Capillary development, fat burning, active recovery...
Some extra running, a few easy doubles, has helped me more than it hurts. Helps recovery, makes the next fast workout go better.
But I acknowledge your experience might be different.
