Both models are discontinued. Both were on clearance at Running Warehouse so I stocked up. The Infinities, from your summary of the Clfitons, seem to be exactly the same, i.e. high platform, cushy, and sounds like a horse. Huakas, I feel the ground a tad more, no noise, but still not a fast shoe.
These shoes serve their purpose, to get me a huge base. I have a pair of New Balance flats, which I will use when I hit the track, again, or do tempo runs.
To the other poster, I do agree that Hokas are not fast shoes, but I don't think it is fair to compare all 50 year olds to Sean Wade's abilities. There are many 50 year old that want to run fast over other distances more than 10000 meters, so the only 60 miles per week and one hour runs will not work for the half marathon or marathon. He even admitted in a Runners World article that his 10000 meter record was his most difficult, due to a lack of a base.
As for Sage, my opinion, is not the shoes, but too much emphasis on ultra trail races. He lost his marathon speed stamina.
