365 marathons in a year

I'm no podiatrist, but everyone knows the first symptom of "foot" problems is a post on Lets Run that questions your ongoing endeavors.

Let's take him down, fellow Running Justice Warriors!

He records his runs on his phone so no cadence or HR data, but GPS data is on strava so he has moved for a lot of his runs.

Looks like he started legitimately after London marathon 2016 but at some point since then has started entering a large proportion of his mileage manually. He posts photos to strava to support his manual entries - they do have timestamps and he doesn't look like he's just put in a three hour effort for those that are time stamped three hours into a run.

He's raising money for charity, natch.

Looks like his first manual entry on strava was June 8 2016, having managed to record gps data for his previous daily 26.2 miles since VLM on April 24.

Looks like it snowballed form there, further manual entries made on June 13, 16, 17, 21, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30.

On June 28 he said his iPhone ran out of charge but he had it on his Polar M400 GPS/HRM, not clear why he doesn't upload to strava from that instead of using his phone but if he has got further data it could back up his manual entry runs.

Looking at recent data, last week he claimed 190 miles, of which 124 is manual entry and 66 has gps data. He only record his runs when accompanied, one of them was a sub 4 Brighton marathon which looks legit.

His pace is pretty unremarkable and he's clearly an average runner but big mileage claims, and charity fund raising with it, does raise questions.

Loser. He will end the year at a short 9563 miles. Dumb. So, Dumb. A minimal 1.2 added miles per day would get the loser to a year end total of 10,000 MILES. Now that would be YUGE!!!

Another multi marathon cheat? Are they bred in Britain?

We're calling cheat (and we should know).

do these ultra joggers ever work? What do they live on? If they are on benefits, how do they sign on when they are miles away from their home town? Surely they are not all sponsored like Dave the Brave.

The Dave LEJOG WR (hello Dave) thread described how uk ultra frauds can live on benefits with loads of kids. Forget about the kids, Jim Rogers is doing it for the parents.

He does stuff in metric, dummy. That's 16, 093 kilometers.

Why is it that the only people in the world who don't have a GPS watch are the guys claiming to run incredible distances? You can get a Garmin Forerunner 15 for $79.99 and free shipping from amazon. We are suppose to believe that these guys can't afford to spend $80 to track their amazing results?

There is only one reason anyone would undertake these challenges and not have a GPS tracker - they don't want to be tracked. And why would they not want proof of their achievements? Because it's all crap.

People who claim to climb to the top of Everest have the onus to actually prove it - usually with photos. If these guys can't prove they have done what they say, then they haven't done it. If they were really interested in being able to prove it, there is an $80 solution.

The good news is that it seems like these guys are pretty unsuccessful, which I think means that most people smell a scam. He said in his Bio that he wanted to raise 100,000 pounds - he's just over a week away and he's raised about 2700. That is pathetic really.

In comparison, I raised more than that in 3 months for 24 hour relay I participated in without really putting in too much effort - and I didn't have to pretend to run a marathon every day for a year. I did actually run the 24 hour relay though.

I should note - the other difference is the money collected went straight to the charity and everyone was given tax receipts. I think that is also a good indication of what you are doing being above board. The money never came to me.

That's because people are waking up to these cheats. The cheats attitude, and the attitude of the fan bois/grrls, is it's for 'charity' so it's OK and only the haters are the ones who object. We've seen it here on all the cheaters threads.

What they don't realise is that it discredits them selves and the charity. They do seem to enjoy the 'look at me' publicity though.

This guy has only just begun. If he follows the Robert Young approach there will be a book of lies coming out soon which will give him direct profit.

Nah, the Brits use the same dumb measurement system as is still used in their former American Colonies. Imperial old boy!!

Are these 5k marathons?

They can be any distance Ben Rogers chooses when he enters the details manually. What a joke.

You should take screenshots in case he tried deleting everything like Terrie Reading.

And looking at the pictures of this Ben Rogers guy, he looks pretty fat and pale for someone claiming to have done so many consecutive marathons. Nothing like the skinny and tanned ultrarunners we know are legit. I'm calling him a fake.
