Really a shame he got lost last year at WS as he was scorching the course. This year will be quite different as the snow pack is 150+ inches in the high country. They will most likely have to route the runners through French Meadows and onto Mosquito Ridge road. Running on snow is not an asset for most, so a fast time is not guaranteed.

Anyone know what happened for miles 44-47? Pace and cadence slowed pretty significantly and doesn't appear to be uphill.

His gps looks like it lost signal for a while. He has 31 out but only 28.6 in. There is also no way he ran 3 consecutive 13:20 miles. Runners in other years said they lost signal during the race.
yup. 3x13:20 miles is strava's attempt at compensating by assuming same speed for the time he lost signal, but in a straight line. looks like he actually ran about 2.5 miles more than what the straight lines showed, but it's difficult to approximate the pace he ran in that section. it could be done if you measured that section and then measured those straight lines, but who cares.
