I back in all the time. I have a truck. and, too often, I am 3 or 4 ft out into the parking lot before I can see anything when I back out. It is much much easier to back in and then pull out.

Delayed Gratification. Some people prefer to the do the hard work upfront to allow for an easier experience later.
Lazy ass.
In any case where there's a fire/explosion, chemical/gas leak, etc. that requires quick evacuation.
Also, if I'm shopping with the minivan, access to the cargo area would be blocked if I backed in to many parking spaces.
I always back in if possible, I don't care how many cars are around. Like someone said if you know how to drive it doesn't take long to back in. The people complaining probably can't parallel park either and think it's stupid. I see so many people struggling to back out of a parking spot holding up traffic.
Also, you people that like to pull in could you please straighten up in the space and not leave me a foot to get into my car. You people really suck. I really don't understand why people pull into parking spots. I'm always in ballout mode.
So basically you're willing to waste other people's time for your own convenience.

No more than you backing out taking all day. Learn how to park.

Let's think about you as an entitled jackass who expects people to arrange their priorities around your convenience.
You are the one expecting people to arrange their schedules around your convenience when you force everyone to stop so that you can slowly lumber into your parking space. I bet you're the same guy who stops to read his subway map on the stairs to the station, and then waits until he's in the turn style to start digging though his back back for his card.[/quote]
Nope. Don't ride subways. Don't have any subway maps or subway cards. Don't need much more time to back into a parking spot than I do to back out of one, in fact I often can back in sooner than I can back out because I don't need to inch along trying to see if there are cars in my path.
Of course there are always going to be circumstances that are reasonable to back in to a spot or pull in, but the important thing to note here is that people who always back in are more stereotypically Murican; more likely to be gun owners, drive massive vehicles, honk their horn whenever possible, drink piss labeled as beer, etc.
The people who never seem to back in are usually vegan, drive small cars that may be partially human-powered, think yoga is about putting those hot little pants on (actually it is), etc.
Essentially I'm the only person that knows how to drive properly and all you putzes need to stop taking my parking spot.

I've driven for 40 years and have had drivers licenses in 8 states and I've never ever ever seen a prohibition against backing into parking spaces.
You've never been to Portland, Oregon then as there are several places downtown at are head in only. You mostly find them on one way streets.
I personally prefer to back into spaces where possible. I drive an older truck that has a terrible turning radius. There are a lot of tight parking spots that can be impossible to back of if there are too many cars near by while pulling out head first is significantly early.

What's the difference between being inconvenienced waiting for someone to back in and being inconvenienced waiting for someone to back out?

Presumably people wait for an opening to pull out of their spot, so it is less likely that someone will end up waiting for them. If I'm driving in the parking deck and you are going to pull out of your space, you are going to wait to pull out until I've driven by.

I was asking for first hand actual experience. Have you been involved in a chemical gas leak that required emergency exfil?
If your at a major event, you better back into it..
After a game trying to get out into the line getting out of the lot is tough..
If you are already pointing out, its much easier.

You've answered the question and it's all about you.

The person who is doing the thing that takes excessive time is the one who is being inconvenienced. This is fair. YOU want to pull out, and so YOU are the one who has to wait.
Just as I wait when it's time for me to pull out. Why should you have to wait because I want to park? I'm the one parking/unparking, so I can be the one to experience the resulting delays.

1.) backing in only seems like a lot of work if you are a shltty driver, it's actually very easy
2.) backing in is a safer way to park (it is mandatory at my son's elementary school to back in).
I'm sorry you are such a bad driver that backing in requires a lot of work for you. I'm also sorry that you are an idiot who can't use the search feature on this site.
So you are a d1ck. It takes longer regardless of ability
