That's an awesome run! Gonna fun to follow him over the next several years.
disgustingly fast this early on.
Would put him in the top 25 all time on the outdoor list.
Tremendous job. He is running incredible indoors. This puts him in the ranks of a number of 44 second 400m runners, =25th all-time outdoor and 1st indoor (world outdoor record is 30.85 at altitude (MJ in Pretoria), with Bolt at 30.97 and Wayde Van Niekerk at 31.03 in 2016).
And perhaps even more importantly...
who the eff is Paul Dedewo, because he's now #2 all-time indoors, faster than the likes of Lashawn Merritt, Kerron Clement, Bralon Taplin, Frankie Fredericks, etc.
And i've never heard of him in my life.

Trains at ALTIS if that's any help.

"world best" in the subject line is correct. Pity that former Olympians Ato and Sanya on NBCSN do not know that there is no official WR for the 300m.
Todd Harris is an idiot, said that Berry set a WR, but there are no indoor WRs in the throws except for the SP. Berry set a world best. Still impressive, sure.
Todd Harris also is complicit in the age-old TV formula of only showing one competitor, and not even bothering to tell the viewer who the other competitors are. Before you know it, sometimes even at the start of the very short clip about a vertical jump event, he tells you who has already won. Nice work, NBC, taking whatever drama there was in the event and destroying it. But it has always been that way (except for Dwight to some degree) and it will always be that way.

Alan Webb just ran 66 seconds for 400 meters. How does that compare to Lyles' time for 300 meters?

That's what I was thinking. Outstanding run by him too! Keep an eye on that guy.
Way to nitpick a nothing burger!! Feeling a wee bit superior for pointing out a nuance on a forum board?? Wow!
T&F TV commentary has always been complete garbage except for that British guy who does the Olys and called Dibaba and Van Niekerk's world records.
It really doesn't work that way.

there is no easily feasible conversion for 300 -> 400
it is better to go to experience...
wally was surprisingly aggressive indoor guy but feckless outdoors, but once in his life ran a "perfect outdoor" into zilch :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMSk9ZZrmrQ400 or 200 ?
US lacks both
Travesty...
The records shoud been at worst for basic, 1-off ~
9.40
18-mid
42-flat
if US had tapped full talent last ~ 50y...
