What are your yearly performance reviews like?
I work a meaningless corporate job. Been there 10 years.
I roll my eyes so hard (in my mind) when the manager is reading word for word my review out loud to me.
It kills my soul.
I never get a raise. We don't have scheduled raises. So stop whining.
I make minimum wage so I got a 5 cent raise this year. That comes out to a .62% raise.
4% for me, and that was with an "Exceeds Expectations" rating. 2.5% was par, and they tell us that it's hard to maintain a "Meets Expectations."
I leveraged a bump in pay grade in November for 5%, so this was a nice bonus on top. But it'll be the annual 2.5% from here, more than likely.

Most people got 3.0% raises and some got 2.5% in my company.
The performance reviews pretty much meant nothing.
They are just trying to manage expenses at the top.
They don't look for value among the employees.
No one leaves, so the system works for the company.
That's not even enough to keep up w the annual inflation rate.

Hasn't inflation been 2-2.5% lately?
Also it's a little misleading because my house payment is locked in. If inflation were 3%, it would only affect about 1/4 of my budget.
The fringe costs of employing people keeps creeping up steadily, eating into corporate budgets for salari increases, and in fact act as an incentive to minimize salaries. The more salaries the company pays, the more it has to shell out for its share of FICA contributions. Health insurance subsidies continue to rise as Obamacare costs spiral out of control. On and on
I'm not happy about work either. So I became my own self-unemployed boss.

Honestly, after going through 2008 through 2011 with no pay raises due to the economy, I appreciate anything extra.
If you don't like your job and just want a bigger pay bump, look for another company. Otherwise, expect 2 to 4 percent unless you get a promotion.
