I have a 600m race coming up and I have no idea how to pace.

It's run more like a 400 than an 800. Meaning you have to get out and establish position. A fast 600
requires positive splits for each 200. But since you haven't run before I would run it similar to your 800 style. Don't waste energy passing people on the turns.
Running a 600m is much better than 600 yards or 500m. Running 600 yards is the absolute worst event ever.
Whatever you do, do not try to even or negative split the 600 Meters. You have one move to make during the race similar to 800 Meters so you have to make that count. I had my best 600 Meter result when I saved that move for the last 120 meters of the race. Take the first lap out hard but not quite all out 400 pace. For the second lap do not try to accelerate or else you'll lose that one vital move you have. Instead just maintain your pace until you hit the last lap. From there if you haven't yet made any big accelerations mid race then you should still have your move. I'd recommend kicking with everything you have left at anywhere from 120-150 meters to go on the final lap.
Good Luck!

For some reason I can't positive split the 800 or the 400. I've raced multiple times, every time I try to get out fast but I always end up having lots left in the tank. My 800 best was a 1:55.11 (58.5,56.6) and my 400 best was 51.24 (26.1,25.1). It just feels unnatural to me to get out faster. Maybe I have less adrenaline than most people.
Fast!!! And don't forget to turn left!
It's closer to a 400 than to an 800. You need to go out quite fast and hold on, not all-out though.

You should be able to run an amazing 1000m indoors then and outdoors the 1500 sounds like the ideal event.
Some would suggest that you run it off of PURE HATE.
