What are some of your current PR's?
Heck yes--you can break 4
Ok, I think I have a plan for you to break 4:00.
Warm up thoroughly at the track. Run an 800 in 1:59. Stop your watch. Recover for 800M. Start your watch again, run another 800 in 1:59. If you can do that, you will gone sub 4.
It looks close and depends how comfortable you were doing those, and if you did this by yourself.
Anyway I say in perfect conditions you could do a 4:02-4:05 mile.
It was very hard.
I was alone for the last two
I've run 1:48.0
DUde. i have run sub 4 several times.
in high school i ran the workout you ran. it took until mid college to go offical sub 4. its not the workouts, its the race opportunities. stop think sub 4, start thinking that you want to race to win. the time will come on its own. to solo a sub 4 i think you need to run 1:56-1:57's for that workout.
good luck and i look forward your joining of the club
i have also dipped under the elusive barrier. i must tell you, the above post is closer to the fact, though 3x800m in 1.57 (not 4) would likely seal the deal. you have perfect footspeed (1.48) to close without locking up. assuming you have adequate endurance, i think you'll do fine. practise makes perfect- just race to win. good luck, lad and keep us posted.
I would think you'd be close. If you could hit the same times with a 2 min rest, I think you'd be a shoe for a sub 4 in a fast race. It really depends on how good your endurance is. Like another poster wrote, you definately have the spped to do it. What kind of 3k time (if any) have you run?
Those are good times for a workout. But what is your p.r. for the mile? I have friend that can do that workout and has a close time to your's in the 800. He has only broke 4 for 1500 once. So I have to say that it takes more speed endurance than that workout would indicate. The other problem is finding a mile race to run compared to a 1500. I have found that it takes a few races to get it right. Two of my friends have run the equivalent in a 1500. One guy ran 3:43 and the other 3:41. But they never broke four because of a lack of mile races. Good luck I would say you are close.
Get the 800's down to 1:57 each. 1:48 is a good 800. You have the speed. Find a good race and give it a go. Good luck to you lad.
