You have a much better chance of having a drug or procedure covered under Medicare than you do under private insurance. The rationing argument doesn't fly.
Medicare does control costs by paying based on a sane payment structure. Medicare doesn't put up with the crazy markups that hospitals are able to charge private insurance.
The taxpayers would love to be on Medicare. It would save billions and everyone would be covered. It's the best plan in America.
a) Most taxpayers do not want to be on Medicare. Another liberal who demands that taxpayer's existing healthcare be taken away from them without their consent and replaced by a government run system that they do not want. What is wrong with: "If you like your existing healthcare, you can keep your healthcare"?
b) Many and most of the better doctors do not and will not accept Medicare.
c) Private insurance companies have been shown to be more efficient administrators of health care than the government. And, you avoid having politicians deciding on what medical care you can receive.
