Excuse the f**k out of me for being nervous around cops but I have a right to be based on the actions of cops toward blacks. You should know that we are treated differently without regard for the law. All blacks have a heightened sense of defense when a cop shows up. We are treated as guilty until proven innocent. I have been pulled over dozens of times and "checked out" when I had done nothing wrong. Fortunately no cops decided to go crazy and shoot me, but all I was doing was driving down the street and going the speed limit. The difference was, I was driving while black. The female police officer probably went into "arrest or shoot the big, bad black man" mode rather than "what's wrong with your car, sir?" mode.
Were you so nervous that you wouldn't show your hands, then unexpectedly put your hands in the air and walk around ignoring commands?
I've been nervous before but never that nervous.
You cop haters must think that this is the first encounter that the officer has ever had with a black man. She's been a cop for a couple of years, I guarantee she has encountered, worked with, and or arrested black people before.
What made this situation different? The answer of course was the actions of Crutcher. By not showing his hands initially he escalated the situation right off the bat putting the cop on a heightened sense of danger. Not complying, even with his hands in the air, only made the situation worse. Any movement after that is just flirting with danger.
