I often run out in the country, miles from any road and usually carry my gun in my backpack along with water, and food. It's a legal concealed carry and I have a license.
Mainly I've come across wildlife, but nothing dangerous- but the other day I was running in a large forest park and came across a couple scary dudes (think banjo & Deliverance) and they yelled at me and I just kept running.
I felt a little safer knowing I had my gun with me, but now I'm thinking I need some kind of holster for easier access. My backpack would take a few seconds to take off, unzip, etc.
Anyone on this board carry a gun when they run in remote or potentially dangerous settings?
Curious your thoughts and what you carry to defend yourself.
I have a CCW and spend a lot of time in the back country, grizzly and wolf territory. Never once carried while running.
And, while this should be obvious, a gun in a backpack is about as useless as it gets. Also pretty dangerous for you, to reach into a bag with sweaty hands while breathing hard in a stressful situation. Recipe for putting a hole in yourself.
