How can she lose 60 pounds, sir? She is barely at her minimum weight now. Are you suggesting she is rotund?

The world's most honest man, Victor Conte, claimed in a pod cast with Joe Rogan that Serena is the biggest PED abuser in tennis. He said athletes are required to tell the testing authorities of their travel plans in advance. He claimed that Serena was famous for claiming to be traveling to one city, but actually traveling to another. She would always claim a work or family emergency as to why her plans changed.

She is obviously not in good aerobic shape and it doesn't matter since she is so powerful and the women's tennis field is relatively weak.
One of the most overrated athletes ever, IMHO.

She's been playing for about 20 years professionally. You are claiming the women's field has been weak all that time? If so, is that her fault?

Why would she want to? Marathons are for losers that can't do anything else, and Serena obviously can do something else. And how badly would her power tennis game suffer if she started to train like a misfit marathoner?
Frank Shorter is a loser? He has a statue and mural in Boulder. I think he did better than you and your former D1 tennis playing wife.
P.S. Remember when you used to say Tyson Gay was clean because he was a part of Project Believe? I do. LOL! Only a MORON would have made such a STUPID claim.
MORON!
She's obviously not built for a marathon. More interesting question: what is her ideal (track) discipline? 5'9.5", and in perfect lean condition without the extra cushion, I'd say she'd be in the 150lbs range.
400m? Of course, that's the track. If we include the field, then maybe discus or javelin or HT.
She could not do this. Not in 6 months and not at any point in the future.
She is almost 35 years old. Her weight has been increasing in the past few years (somewhere over 150) and it appears as though she is losing some motivation for tennis.
Her endurance is fairly specific for tennis. Relatively short bouts of explosiveness followed be rest and recovery. There are breaks between points, games and sets.
If I had to pick one women's tennis pro to try to do this, she would be one of the last I would choose.
She is a great tennis player but that is not going to translate very well to marathoning.

She is 5'10" and listed at 155lbs. My guess is that she is heavier than that (lotsa muscle, some extra mass, too).
Most charts list about 5'10" 135 lbs for a sub-3:00 female marathon runner. That is 20lbs less than her listed weight and 25-30lbs less than her likely actual weight.
I will say "no" to your OP, but "yes" that SW could potentially run 2:50 on the proper training plan and diet.
There is NO WAY she is only 155.
That girl is pushing 2 bills easy...
hell no maybe sub 4:50
maybe 30 poundsgoogle image search her dude.she's a large woman

She's all fast twitch, strength/power and also not clear she has world beating biomechanics or the ability to tolerate marathon training without injury. Marathon plays to all her weaknesses.
Her weight is not the problem -- she'd be plenty strong for her weight if you measured her in terms ot strength (e.g. she's beat some of the guys here in the weights room). As others pointed out she might be ok as a thrower. If she has good running biomechanics she may even perform reasonably well as a heptathlete (though the 800 would be a weak event)
who gives a shit if she could?? Why are you wasting bandwidth on this crap????????????????

Says the person who weighed in voicing his or her displeasure. Why would you ever click on this thread with the hatefulness you have for it fulling knowing what the topic was? Are you the stupidest person ever? You knew it would get your blood pressure boiling yet you still clicked on it. MORON!

Oprah ran 4hr 29min. Serena could probably do that now using Gallowalking.

60 pounds is too much, but yes to the other two points
2:50 in the 800 - yes
2:50 in the marathon - no way in hell
I remember FLOJO, after her Olympic Golds in the 100 & 200, claiming she was now going to train for the marathon. She ran her first 5K race and couldn't break 20 minutes.
There is no way Serena Williams would ever be able to run 6:30 pace for 26 miles. If she lost weight she would still have the build of a sprinter, not a distance runner.

No.
Maybe she could run around 3:15 if she really dedicated herself to serious marathon training.

Could Matt Centrowitz win a Grand Slam title if he trained for 6 months and gained 10 lbs?
He has a bit of a narrow waist and small forearms, but gaining 10 pounds would make him contact the ball harder. He is obviously a phenomenal athlete with world class coordination and speed. After 6 months of court-specific training could he win Wimbledon?
