It looked like he was supposed to be a pacer the way he ran straight before the second lap. Trouble is he was mid-pack--not a pacer place to be. Something isn't quite right.
Berian seemed to just run off the track after 400. Didn't look obviously hurt or anything, but who knows.

I rewatched it and you are right. Berian just ran off into lane 4 at 400m. Bizarre. Didn't stop. He just kept going like he was running the 100m and going past the finish
