I guess I never chimed in on this thread.
That was a lifetime highlight for me as a track fan.
The 1500 m is my favorite event and ever since I started following the sport in 1984 I saw an American hadn't won the Olympic 1500 since 1908.
I thought Webb might end it 100 years later in 2008.
The Manzano Silver in 2012 was a real nice surprise.
I actually watched this race giving Centro a shot to win based the consistent championship finishes he's had, his apparent fitness during the year and the fact that the Kenyans messed up their preparation for the 2012 Olympics and AK gets squirrelly interfering with their athlete's preparations.
He controlled the field from the beginning. He didn't waste any effort pushing the pace while others wasted energy jostling behind him.
He covered every move a left something for the finish.
That was so exciting!
