With all of the madness going on this morning in the women's 4 x 100, we didn't check WhatsApp this morning. Our correspondent in Kenya, Andy Arnold, wrote to tell us that Elijah Manangoi is out of the men's with an injury. He said he saw on facebook a picture of Managoi on crutches, announcing he was out but thanking God for letting him compete in Rio. The Kenya media has now confirmed that he has a " third degree hamstring injury" and is out of the Olympics:

Here is an excerpt from Facebook:

"Lord, I give you honor for your tremendous blessings, am not going to get the result as planned in the 1500m, but I will continue to trust in you,â€ he poured out.

â€œSometimes things are just unexplainable. I have prepared well, I am in great shape, but failed at getting the job done, but I will keep the fight for great things are in store.â€

Managoi talked to us dejectedly after the 1500 semis about how he'd been injured in the later stages of the race. Recap here:

Nope. He'll jog for the first 2 laps and not have the kick to get it done to get gold, letting too many others in on the race. Yeah, Capt. Reverse Obvious, but wait for it...he won't get gold rojo (medal, maybe, but not gold).
