Is CU colorado springs ever going to get a track and have athletes other than distance runners?
they don't have a track
CU the Springs currently does not have a track, the XC team apperantly trains at other tracks in the springs and competes on a limited basis it would appear. The Colorado Springs Campus is the fastest growing of the CU campuses, but even space around the Colorado Springs campus is filling up fast. I have no idea if they have any plans to expand into a full track and field program. Colorado Springs is an awsome place to train, as discussed on other boards. I certainly hope UCCS continues to grow and expands it's athletics program to track and field.
Do they deserve a track?
Are they sending anyone at nationals
And scoring 2pts/21pts at there conference meet??
Do they deserve a track? What makes someone deserving of a track? Right now they basically a school with just an XC program and no track, like many other schools. The difference is the UCCS team competes on the track whereas most other schools in similar situations don't.
If you like the sport you would like to see many schools add better tracks and programs to their schools. It would be nice if one school in Colorado would decide to recruit other areas beside distance. They need a track to have a chance to beat schools like Western and Adams.
Gunnison, Alamosa, Colorado Springs
Hum!!!! Tough Choice for a recruit!
Yeah thats the question. You must attend the school of mines!
First of all, GO MINES!!! second, of course they deserve a track! I have quite a bit of respect for them, Their team is small and distance focused now, but I remember when I was thinking about going there and all they had were 3 or 4 people as part of a track "club". Now they have a decent team built up, and although they of course arent up there nationally with western and ASC, they are pretty competetive in our conference (XC of course, their track team is still lacking the numbers). If they could get a track they could build up a pretty competetive team. Same goes for Mines, their team is small in numbers now ( but still badass for having half as many people as most other D2 teams) but I think once they get their outdoor track in 2006 they'll be able to expand their program quite a bit, and who knows, maybe even kick Western and Adams out of the picture... ;)
I could not agree more. So you heard they are getting a track in 06 is that for sure?
