Women prefer "dad bod" over super fit. Why is that? Look like a frat guy instead of a skinny runner?

As a man I prefer a slightly fat woman with a pretty face over a really fit woman or a skinny runner woman. A man is more of a security blanket for a woman than anything else, so shape or size is irrelevant if he can take good care of a lady who appreciates that.
Crossfit dudes are obvious narcissists and guys get dad bods by working at their white collar jobs and making money.
I'm sick of the just get laid attitude:

As an older runner, I second this. Slightly curvier women tend to age much better than rail thin runners. A lot of long-term runner women I know in their 40s look like they're in their 60s. Women who instead practiced yoga or something less intense tend to look much better. I suspect sun exposure is part of it.
Since I'm a man I can't say for sure but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same deal for us.
easier to get a beta to submit to you and keep him locked up in marriage like a good boy.
And she can let herself go too. he cant complain about her beer belly if he has one him self.
When judging appeal on the BMI fit scale of 19 to 25 both men and women tend to chose in the 24 range.
A study took photos (body from neck down) and photoshopped images across an array of BMIs.
can not seem to find the article now but it was a clickbait article on one of the major "homepage options" ( Bing perhaps) in the past few weeks.
You got it wrong.
Women prefer "buff and ripped" like CrossFitters over "skinny fat" runners.
Stop running and join CrossFit.

They don't. Most woman like a nice fit guy. See Brad Pitt in his prime. What they don't want is an anorexic distance runner or a some meathead with 100lbs of muscle and back acne.

Yep, this is blunt but there are hints of truth in this statement.
I would add though that most women don't want a man who is more fit than she.
You also have to consider that although gravity is on the side of no one, a fit man typically can stay fit longer than a fit woman. My opinion. This ties into my point above.

I kind of second this too. The sexiest women that I've seen lately are climber/yoga women who also have a kind of gymnast/sprinter look.
A skinnier/fitter dude makes them feel worse about their bodies. As I overheard a chunky runner girl (she was in a training program that I was helping to coach) say to another:
"If a guy can fit in my pants he can't get in my pants"
Women are real self conscious about their body.
If their mate is very fit they will feel worse about themselves.
And they think their man will be looking to cheat on them.
Basic psychology. A typical female molds the template for all love interests based on the idealization of the father.
Same reason most men surveyed admit to preferring "curvy" women over models, athletes, slim beautiful women, etc..
They know they haven't a chance with the more attractive type, so try to make themselves feel better by denying they have settled for third best.
Humans are biologically inclined to be attracted towards more attractive specimens.
I don't know many of my contemporary female athletes at a good level who date or are married to fat, ugly guys.
I know quite a few male runners who date or are married to fat, ugly women, and we kind of feel sorry for them. They kind of feel sorry for themselves too, judging by the way they come onto you despite not being single. I call it the placemarker effect...
I don't know many really successful men who are married to fat, unmotivated boring wives. I guess they want to have a good chance of having children who will be attractive and active.
What do the LRC ladies have to say about this?

Some truth in this. I was a PVer in college, later a recreational runner. When I was in my best running shape I weighed less than i did in college. My wife didn't like that i was so "skinny".
Start running less due to injury and laziness and my wife thinks I look much better 25lbs heavier.
Women are insecure. A fit guy feeds that insecurity, making them feel out of shape and inferior.
