Kenyan Silas Kipruto won the Bix 7 road race yesterday, but not after some unusual conflict. Around mile 5, Kipruto took a swing at Ethiopia's Teshome Mekonen who apparently Kipruto felt was making contact with him from behind.
Mekonen ended up finishing 8th and filed a protest against Kipruto, but officials determined that Kipruto had not done anything “flagrant" and elite athlete coordinator John Tope said he was told it was “incidental contact.’’

Our sport needs more 118-lb roid-raged Kenyans for the comic relief. Reminds me of the IAAF World Cross slapfight a few years ago.
-
Africans are weak. I wish directors would allow more "incidental contact." Would love to have seen a bigger American give them love taps.
-
If someone is clipping your heels he probably deserves to be slapped.

Touche!
Seems like more of a "fly swat" than a slap. -
Yeah like maybe Chris Solinsky.

I'd like to see Leo Manzano have a crack at them.

Are you serious?
Let's look at reality.
165-pound Chris Solinsky dives into a potted plant when a 120-pound African muscles into his line.
That was some great incidental contact. Classic video if you can find it. -

Exactly.
Classic Ethiopian to run on someone's heels all race then point like a b!tch when that someone responds. -
Is it any surprise it was an Ethiopian doing this AKA clipping of the heels?
Well? Didn't we just have a thread about World Junior 1500 (girls)? Well? -

Except that the Americans are nowhere near the front, tough guy. -

Wimpy punch...his right is not nearly as formidable as Alexa Efraimson

Kipsang, Jemima, kamwowor, all have been tripped. I feel like it just goes to show the degree to which Kenyans have their head in the game, now we're seeing a little enforcing, no big deal

Look, if BB didn't get DQ'd for winding up and shoving Avila, and Teg didn't get dq'd in that road race (Providence, US 5k champs?) where he charged across the road and barreled into the East African dude, then this guy's non-slap doesn't deserver a dq, that's for sure.

Tegenkamp shoulder-checked an African runner in a road 5k for similar reasons.
