This was so good and beautiful I'm starting another thread because Matt Centrowitz wasn't done after he ran 1:49.3 for 800 AFTER the meet. He came back 10-15 minute later and ran another one in 1:47.9 (with a running start).
I started another thread after the first 800 here:
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=7539403
This was a thing of beauty. I'm sitting here uploading some videos, typing about the meet. I hear some splits being yelled and think it's some dad yelling at his kid as there is some activity on the track. I look up and it's Centro being paced I think by Kyle Merber. I hear 53-54-55 as they hit the 800. Another guy in a NOP shirt jumped in on the 2nd lap and Centro motored all the way around again to the finish.
It had to be an 800 and I'm pretty sure I heard someone say 1:49.3. Pretty impressive as Centro only ran 1:47.17 in the race today.
I thought that was it, but they were still jogging around the track. And then it was on again. Merber leading with a running start and I timed this one.27.8, 54.55 (26.7), 1:21.43 (26.9), 1:48.1 (26.7). Merber dropped out after a lap and the other guy paced Centro the second lap. Assistant Coach Pete Julian yelled to Alberto 1:47.9. They were both very happy.
It was cool to see Alberto hobbling/jogging across the infield giving him splits as the crew cleaned up. "Come on Matthew" or something along the lines he yelled as he was I thought very happy during the second one.
Centro's ready for Rio.
Holy S*@t, Centro Just Ran 1:49.3 and then 1:47.9 for 800 AFTER running 1:47.17 in the meet

Awesome!
This puts Centro's mediocre race into perspective. Can't wait for Rio! -
Dude is everything that is wrong with athletics.
-
Actually I found what I typed Alberto yelled. "You're rolling now." "Excellent Matthew"
This was track's version of the Steph Curry pre-game routine but it was post-game. -
The world's top milers close in 1:48-1:49. I would've expected Centro to be able to run 1:47, 1:49 at full recovery.

You don't consider Matt one of the worlds best?
Can you please tell how he got his medals?
I think Al has him dialed in. -

C'mon the Olympics are about to start!
But I agree Matthew should race hard before the Olympics and then the headline will say Matt centrowitz Americas best miler and mile medal hope pulls out of Olympics due to rigorous pre Olympic LRC forum pleasing schedule. -

It's nie to be in .000000001%.
I'm glad weldon enjoyed the post-race workout (That 99.999999% of American didn't get to see as his race wasn't good. My buddy was watching the race hoping to see Centro look great and instead he looked awful. I tried to tell him halfheartedly, "You dont have to be in 800 PR shape" but he said, "He wasn't even competitive."
WIth these NOPers, Im now wondering if in a meet like this they are even going all out in the race. Is it possible he purposely didn't want to go out in 51 as he knows that's not a useful skill in the 1500. He wanted to work on finishing hard?? -

No no. What they need to do is over race until their career ends early and they don't perform at the highest level. You see. You arent several man unless you race like it's the Olympics for an all comers meet, leaf the whole thing, then get out kicked. In summary, Centro and Salazar know better than any poster here will. -
Why was Merber helping him work out? Are they buddies? Even if they are, it seems strange to me.

Rojo, what the he'll does this mean?

NOP often runs races at pace prior to big events. It's been a pattern for a number of years. -
