Holy Moly.....
Holy Moly.....
What a run.
One of the strangest world records you'll ever see as they originally put 12.58 on the clock.
Then they later put up the correct time 12.20 and Harrison fell to the ground in tears.
Final, wind: +0.3
Pl. Athlete Nat. Birth Result

2. Brianna ROLLINS USA 91 12.57
3. Kristi CASTLIN USA 88 12.59
4. Nia ALI USA 88 12.63
5. Alina TALAY BLR 89 12.66
6. Tiffany PORTER GBR 87 12.70
7. Anne ZAGRE BEL 90 12.94

- Jasmin STOWERS USA 91 DNF
I was reading about the track on the IAAF website
http://www.iaaf.org/news/iaaf-news/mondotrack-ws-surface-mondo-rio-london-olympi
The 2-Phase Vulcanization wear layer is a three-dimensional network of deformable elements, with controlled composition and elasticity that provides a significant increase in the elastic response of the surface and ensures uniformity of dynamic response over the whole track. _This feature minimises surface-induced posture adjustments and  reduces fatigue. It also guarantees greater control over stride length, which is essential to athletes who have to run a set number of steps in order to reach the correct take-off point._
Last section is most interesting, given the WR came in a hurdle event and the sprints weren't too fast.
Same track for Rio which is great
Crazy that she didn't even make the olympic team
I question when people get excited over someone breaking a doper''s record.
She's American so she's clean :).

She wasn't even the first Harrison left off of the Olympic team in the 100h!
I was convinced Rollins would get this after her 12.26....never thought another athlete of a very similar age would beat her to the punch.
More proof that our system for Olympic Qualifying is set up so that we send a weaker team than we could. Not just in this event, but numerous events. Other countries obviously have less competitive teams, but they make sure their system allows them to put their best foot forward.

One of many WRs left from the 1980's. Next one to go likely is 800.

Peculiar, huh?
Our full race recap of Harrison's incredible run with analysis is now up:
Loved it...and the way she struggled to keep composed was unusual in our times....contrast with some others who had tough breaks and fell down and went boom lately. But I digres.

Crazier than that, the next three runners behind her (way behind) are the Olympic team for that event. I think there was sweet redemption on the London track tonight. :-)

Nothing peculiar. Womens' 100 h is strogner in the US than it will be in the Olympics. She had a bad day and was beaten. The lady who beat her will likely take the gold.
Sprinting is not like jogging. There is no room for mistakes or error.

More proof that state enabled doping is rampant in USA. USA doesn't need a state sponsored doping program because athletes are being well taken care of private training groups and doctors.
Why are the hurdles so low?

Been saying that for years. Men race over 42 inch hurdles, for women it's 33 inches. The average woman is not nine inches shorter than the average man.
Not a whole lot of hurdling technique happening in the ladies event. But it is definitely exciting and fun to watch.
Was hoping we might see more of Queen Harrison in Europe post OTs.
