$500 guaranteed plus $250 for college sounds more reasonable than $5 million guaranteed.

One exception to that: runner girls. There are certain college girls that I wonder if they have entered puberty yet. That said, the late-bloomers can still become top runners as open athletes (Mary Decker being a major case), the road may be a bit uneven though. Most end up like Sara Hall or Jordan Hasay if they work hard and are a bit lucky.

Or 50K per year? (plus his choice of college education which you did not mention)--

You realize that that Canadian has run 2:01 this year for 800m? Of course she was going to beat Cain in a tactical race. Maybe Mary and her coaches should have researched the competition a little better and made a better race plan.

After 10yrs of waiting. MW could drive a ball +300yds when she was 15. Nothing has really happened since then.

I hope it is much more than half a million over ten years. That doesn't seem like enough to sacrifice NCAA opportunities.

I dont agree. That is a base of 50k per year. It ensures his school is paid for and he is set up to start a career. That 50k for ten years is something I didn't have to help me get started.

If he runs well, he'll make bonuses, etc and could potentially make much more and can focus only on running and not worry about getting established in a career.
