not to hijack the thread but when does Bernie Lagat's 10 year window close, or even Meb's?
I knew this question was coming. Lagat last PR'd in the 1500 in 2001. As a 1994 HS graduate, that is less than a 10-yr window. He continued to primarily pursue the 1500 until about 2004 and then started moving up to 5000m. His last PR in the 5000m took place in 2011 (7 years after moving up). If he were to switch to marathons, he would likely PR through his mid to late 40s.
Meb's first marathon was in 2002 and his marathon PR was 12 yrs later.
When you look at those two men a little closer, they fit the 10yr mold fairly well.
