How was the course this year? From the times, it doesn't look to fast. Was it snowing or muddy? What was the problem?

It rained Friday night and some on Saturday, so the course got progressively muddier as the races went on. The first turn, a left, was about the worst with another soft stretch on the descent along the Fort side. The first real climb was pretty soft (that's the one where Webb bailed) -- the finishing climb wasn't bad. All in all, the muddy spots weren't as bad as the muddy spots in Portland at Club Nats in early December, but the course overall was harder due to the elevation changes and the number of turns. There was a hairpin at the end of the 2K loop and at least one on the course of around 75 degrees (sharper than right-angle). Still, the course was a riot to run.
As another comparison, even though the course last year in Indie was snow- and ice-covered, the Indie course was pretty much flat and fast (one lame descent/climb at one end) compared to Vancouver. Temps in Vancouver were good with the mens' 12K on Sunday probably being the warmest.
Wait til next year at Van Cortlandt in NYC. This weekend it was dry in the 40s, but today it was 10 degrees colder and wet snow/rain for most of the day. And some years the ground is still covered w/ packed snow/ice. Could be interesting, to say the least.
Also, parking at VCP is notoriously awful, and worse if there's still plowed snow around.
