Under 3:42.70 is equivalent sub 4, so he ran twice sub 4 in the mile indoors and an outdoor opener that is equivalent sub 4. Webb ran only two sub 4s in high school. Ryun ran at least three. How many total?

T&FN lists the equivalent as 3:42.22

Could he be the first high schooler to have a season where none of his miles (or converted 1500s) is over 4:00?
Better question is could he be the first sub 4:00 high schooler to never run against high school competition for a mile?
The most accurate comparison/equivalent performance reference is the iaaf table. You need 3:42.39 to break 4:00 for the mile.

Maybe in your make believe world. You're wrong.
There was a long thread debating and pooling info on sub-4 for a 1500 equivalent last week. The consensus was 3:42.5, So Hunter is close at the very least. It is the #8 1500 time for a prep all-time. Note that # 9 is Maton, who ran 3:42.54 right before running 3:59.

Why can't the best high schooler in the country win races? He seems to get a lot of press, but is always mid pack in his competitions.
One of the best things I think that is happening with Drew is he's losing all the time and learning how to race in a pack. Webb was so dominant in HS, i felt like he never learned how to race in a pack. Even at Pre, when Webb ran 3:53, he ran in dead last and then picked people off.
You gotta get comfortable in the pack. Plus, you learn it's about gteting fitter and the process. In track and field, you don't control the outcome. You could run the WR and lose if someone else runs faster as what you do doesn't impact others like in team sports.

So Hunter beats a bunch of studs, runs one of the fastest 1500s ever (only he, Ryun and Webb have run faster), and the thread title is about the two guys that beat him? Pretty messed up priorities.
Yep. A HS kid OPENS in 3:42 and there's all this trash.
Not only did he run 3:42, but his first 300m was run in 45sec+.
Expectation sucks...

In a post-race interview with Ryan Fenton on milesplit, Hunter called his run very "average" and a "so-so" performance. He said he was proud of the fact he fought the last 100.

Typical east coast indoor burnout. They highlight indoors and fall flat early season. Lets hope he didn't over race and can get second peak for outdoors.

oh my god shut up
He felt sub-par for the two indoor races also. One wonders what he can do if he actually feels good.

There is no consensus. It is not 342.5.
# 8 AT is #8 AT. Only Webb and Ryun faster.

Omg omg stick a fork in him, he's done! Oregon should rescind that scholarship offer. Maybe can negotiate a 50% scholarship at his dad's alma mater Cleveland State.

He should retire before embarrassing himself further.

Probably won't break 4:10. Some guys always have something wrong with them before races. Just part of who they are.
