I see almost no coverage of this developing story on LRC or anywhere else, so figured I'd start this thread.
This is such a huge new trend. Trans runners coming out and being proud of it.
First there was Dora Ratjen, then Caster Semenya and Santhi Soundarajan, and most recently Chris Lukezic (albeit, after his running career).
So let's throw this on the table. What do you guys think? Does the mainstream running media need to get on the bandwagon and cover this properly?

What is there to say? Trans people are more than welcome to enjoy athletics too.
When it comes to competition, there simply needs to be a level of testosterone and other body chemicals, above which you compete in the male category or equivalent, and below which you can do as you please. This is to ensure a fair playing field for athletes, especially females.
On a different point, I think changing gender within sport has to be carefully looked at. I think from a human rights perspective, a person has the right to be whatever they want. But with regards to sport, this can be easily abused to cheat. The new IOC guidelines are perhaps open to manipulation.
Methinks this a troll post to take potshot at Lukezic.
If Bruce transitioned before his Olympics, do the Trans community feel he should be able to compete in Heptathlon as a woman?

What if a man is unambiguous anatomically or physiologically: should he be allowed in the ladies' locker room or bath room simply because he wants to be a woman? Would you allow this man near your daughter in the locker room or bath room?

Typically you can tell because they will dress and be named as a woman, often for years. If they are otherwise a man in life then no.
I don't think there's an epidemic of fake trans people trying to watch others get changed.

but if you're competing competivily, you're born with a dick and balls your a dude, born with a vagina your a woman, and that's the group you compete with.

Women's athletics should at minimum be confined to people without an Y-chromosome. Everybody else should be in an open class.
With the current IOC rules we'll soon see a man with a penis win a women's Olympic gold.

I think anyone, trans or not, would say yes. She is a woman so she can compete with women.
Women heptathletes run the 800 in like 2:25. Calling them athletes at all is a sham.
If a trans woman basketball player set the league layup record, it would still count. And also no one would care.

Is this really a growing minority? Who are some legit trans runners we should be aware of? Caster Semenya and Lukezic don't count.
