The past few days a tendon or ligament has been bothering me. I think it's my MCL, but I'm not sure. It's the one on the inside of my left knee that runs up my hamstring along the inside. It's a little tight. Despite stretching it a fair amount before I run, it still slides around and "pops" nearly every step. Anyone ever have this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
yeah i got a similar problem 3 weeks ago after my first 5 mile race. i just took some time off and eased back into, took ibuprofen to reduce inflammation, and just did my first 10 mile run today!
thanks. anyone else have any suggestions? i'm definitely taking at least two days off. just wanted to know if anyone has dealt with this before.
Yeah ive actually just had this. Stretching it is actually counter intuative and will take it more time to heal. Go to Stretch But instead push down hard on the area where the pain is and slowly straighten and then bend your knee repetitavely, this will help make your hamstrings more supple. This isnt something that takes a ton of time to fix, just try and strengthen your hgamstrings after the pain goes away in the insertion.
WHARTONS' STRETCH BOOK, making a huge difference with myself, get that and a stretch rope, plus massage once weekly has made a difference, I had ( have ) the same problem going on right now.

Those attachments can really suck. I second most of what has been said here. I would advise a good massage and some of the light resistance style stretching that some of the other posters have suggested. I use a bar with about 50 or 60 lbs. of weight and do very slow squats making sure to use my butt and hamstrings rather than my quads ( defeats the purpose and can make knees hurt). A PT told me to squeeze my butt together as I rise up during the squat, it works for me but who knows? Good luck.
Thanks for all your help. I saw my physical therapist again today and he said I don't have a torn meniscus which is good, cause he said it might have been that. He said it's probably just tight and that I might've strained my hamstring. I massaged my hamstring a lot last night and stretched it out well today and it felt great. Let's hope it stays that way.
