Sharapova? **swoons**
This is the same reason of Nadal's decline.
Here is the AP article (it's not an ESPN article it was just on ESPN) where the makers of the drug say a normal treatment cycle last 4-6 weeks and can be repeated 2-3 times per year.http://www.usnews.com/news/sports/articles/2016-03-08/4-6-weeks-is-normal-treatment-for-drug-in-sharapova-case

Irregular heartbeat as a side effect?
Didn't Sharapova say she took it specifically because she was suffering from irregular heartbeat?
Here's a story from an Irish newspaper that speculates that Sharapova could get a retroactive TUE for Meldonium if it's for a legitimate medical condition:
Based on what's been published, it's questionable whether a doctor would legitimately prescribe Meldonium for 10 years because of low magnesium and a family history of diabetes.
all of that and she still couldn't defeat the Williams sisters. Proof that blacks are superior athletes.

Sounds like an honest mistake. She had been taking that medication for many years and then they added it to the list without noticing her.
In the end, she is still the most attractive tennis player. Not as BUFF as Serena Williams, but she has nice features.
She'll probably get away with a warning and that's fine by me.
complete and utter bs. williams sisters were on roids and the russians were on a basket of vitamins. 10 years! an the juice !! and they did not know. bad her for stupid
From the NY Times: Nike, one of Sharapova’s longtime sponsors, announced in a statement that it was suspending its relationship with her “while the investigation continues.â€
Rojo: In all of the hoopla about Sharapova's positive test, let's not overlook this little nugget. Is Nike finally starting to see the light on doping in sports? The fact that the conglomerate is suspending relations with her immediately is HUGE, HUGE news -- and it's something that never would have happened in the recent past. Let's not forget that in the Armstrong debacle, Nike deliberately kept its head in the sand until hell froze over. It was insulting, in fact, how long it took for the company to sever ties with him. Maybe, just maybe, with the tsunami of high profile doping violations in the news of late, Nike is developing a conscience. At least we can only hope so...
Why is a tennis player getting busted? Is it because it's now an Olympic sport? Why aren't hockey players being busted then?
I understand why nobody gets busted in the NFL (the cleanest sport on the planet).
I don't get it...

It's been an Olympic sport for quite a while
Wouldnt it make sense to wait a couple of months to test for a previously legal pill? I would understand if the sport had been previously clean but now they can say it is residually in their system.

Legal where? Not in the US or Australia (where she was busted).
Legal in Latvia and Russia...ok.

No.
Mugurunza ...or whatever her name is...from Spain is the best.
okay, in my opinion.
Thankfully we can all rest assured that tennis has cleaned up its act and now Serena can be playing on a level playing field.

Supposedly Meldonium is for heart troubles. Sharapova mentioned in her press conference a history of diabetes in her family, but nothing about family history of heart troubles.
Does Meldonium cure diabetes?

Ho ho.
What Sharapova needs when at overseas tournaments is to book into a hotel with a panic room.

Ssshhh!!! Now is not the time to question Radcliffe's claims.

I mean, Sharapova.
I bet Nike just wants to get out of the contract. Maybe they think they are overpaying her at this point in her career this gives them an out with cause.
A friend who played NHL hockey for 15 plus years said Meldonium is not banned in the NHl. He's been out of the game too long to have a handle on current drug use so I have no inside info other that back then a lot of stuff got swallowed, snorted and smoked and that was just at my parties.
