Putin is a gangster, nothing more or less. Doesn't surprise me at all that he gets embarrassed personally because of these doping allegations and now a second man has mysteriously died. And while this anecdote made me smile because I can't stand the Patriots and Brady/Bellicheck, I'll never forget the story I read about how Putin met with Robert Kraft (owner of the Patriots) and asked to see his Super Bowl ring. Kraft handed it over and then Putin put it on his finger and walked out the door. Didn't give it back. That should tell you everything you need to know about Putin, his character and what he is capable of.

And the Russians love him. That should tell you everything you need to know about Russians.

True. In the same way everyone in my country has exactly the same stance on politics, Russians all think exactly the same way as each other.
One dirty Russian = every Russian is dirty.
Russians love Putin
Americans love Trump
Same thing.
Op, you may be on to something. The Sunday Times, which is subscription only, has a new article out today that begins.
The Sunday Times wrote:
"The former head of Russia’s anti-doping agency was writing a book about his work before his sudden death on Sunday, The Times has learnt.
Nikita Kamayev, 52, had ignored friends’ advice and had begun working on an account of his time at Rusada.

I did think that earlier today but the difference is Trump has an unfavorable rating of greater than 50% in this country. He's very popular with just 36% of the GOP electorate. Putin has an 80% approval rating for the entire country.
Trump actually pointed out how popular Putin is and said it's because people like a strong leader.

The KGB is now the SVR. The FSB does internal security. Try to keep up.
And yes, Putin had him killed.

The worst thing that would happen is some old performances would finally be called doping.
Doping is not a crime. Bribery isn't particularly criminal in this context. The IOC has made sure of that.
Get back to me when you research more IOC officials. Corruption is the norm.

I would suggest reading Gary Kasparov's book on Putin:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1610396200?keywords=kasparov&qid=1455732224&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1Short version: Putin has an 80% approval rating because he thinks anything higher would look overly suspicious.
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is a patriot and a red-blooded Russian.
The neocons despise him because he's a nationalist and because of his heavy-handed treatment of the oligarchs that looted Russia during Yeltsin's presidency.
Putin's no choirboy, but probably 90% of what is written about him in the Western press is BS, sort of like the WMDs and Nigerian yellow cake stories in the lead up to the 2003 Iraq invasion fiasco.

You could be right about the 90% you mentioned, but it's the other 10% that makes him very dangerous/unstable and a threat to world stability/peace.

Exactly. 80% approval based on a made up poll.
There is the state and the peasants. Putin and friends are all thugs. He stole $ billions (estimated worth of $200 billion) and magically his son-in-law who moved up in the business world to also be a billionaire. Basically if you're in Putin (the states) favor you will be rewarded and if you are an enemy/bring shame to the state you will be punished or eliminated. Look at what is going on in Ukraine and Syria! Dirty politics, murder, and corruption. Politics crosses over into sport and this is what you get.

Putin is slaughtering hundreds of Islamic State fighters every day, that's who he's been killing.

Kind of similar to the Clintons and Gores. They used their political influence and dirty politics to become billionaires.

I wish this was true. But I believe up to this point he's been killing the free Syrian army and Kurds who are trying to over throw Bashar Al-Assad government. In the larger picture Putin feels the Islamic State is small potatoes. He feels he can wait to defeat them once Syria is secured from the rebels.
