What's your beef with Columbia, SC?

Please educate me on what is so bad about Colorado Springs. I don't have an opinion here, so I'm not going to argue. I've just never heard that about that city -- quite the opposite usually.
Yeah, you're wrong about Columbus, OH too. I have only visited for BIG-10 meets, but there is no way in the world this is even in the bottom 20% much less the worst.
St. Louis, Missouri
Population of St. Louis City County: 353,064
People on food stamps: 36%
Children on food stamps: 63%

Also, with a population of about 30K Newburgh, NY, deserves an honorable mention. On the Hudson River, just north of West Point, it is a true shithole.
It was ranked as safer than just 5 percent of US cities (that is, more dangerous than 95 percent of all US cities) by Web site Neighborhood Scout based on 2012 FBI crime data.[43] This group also ranked Newburgh as the 10th most dangerous place to live in the United States based on the same 2012 dataset
In 2004 the state declared it one of the state's five most "stressed" cities, based on a mix of statistics like families headed by single mothers, abandoned buildings, unemployment, residents under the poverty line and adults without a high school diploma.

Agree. Springfield is the hairy armpit of MA.[/quote]
Yes, Springfield (Latino gangs) and Lowell, (Cambodian gangs) suck, but the armpit of Mass. must be Brockton.
TRENTON NJ
Nothing good has happened in Waterbury, CT since the 1940s, at best.

Many people here must be about 18 and have lived in posh suburbs their whole lives where there are oceans, rivers, mountains, forests, and putt-putt golf and ice-cream carts that come around to your house every 90 minutes.
Oh, and they have never traveled anywhere also.
There is no way in hell that Buffalo is the worst place in the USA to live. They get a lot of snow, but so does most of the rest of the surrounding area.
Pueblo, CO
Gary
Phoenix
I agree.
It's a pit stop for all other destinations in the state. It is literally in between Charleston, Greenville, Savannah, Augusta, and Myrtle Beach. Downtown is awful and abandoned. Hot as hell in the summer. State capitols, in general, kind of suck. The biggest attraction outside of a USC football game 6 Saturdays a year is a children's zoo. Oh, and yes, that means a Gamecocks game. The real USC is in southern Califiornia
Lawrence, MA is pretty bad too.

I see someone did mention Pueblo, CO. That's the one good-sized city in the country where I didn't see a single decent-looking person. They all had the same bad hairdo, for one thing.
ALBUQUERQUE NEW MEXICO
How on earth has no one mentioned this city?
The VIOLENT crime, constant drunk driving, trashy people.... truly is sad though, the state and local government has just let the city fall apart. It is sad, the land scape & mountains are truly beautiful... but the people have ruined it.

Every time I visited SF I almost tripped over all the homeless people on the street. It looks beautiful but smells like urine. No thanks.

Excellent. Please don't come back!!
Not a single post before this said a metro area was "too christian or traditional." Quit with the martyr routine already. You (not you as a Christian, you as a person) are delusional.
You obviously have not spent much time in Columbia then. I moved here from Charlotte and it is much more accessible and friendly than Charlotte ever was. There is plenty to do and it has a great vibe and atmosphere. Plus, it is a short drive to all those cities that you mentioned (as well as Charlotte) so nearly anything you would or could want to do is close by. The Vista, Five Points and Forest Acres has nearly anything you could want in a mid-size city.

I own a 1.2 million dollar flat in SF and am ready to cash out and move to your little slice of paradise. What will it cost me to buy 1,000sf in your town?
My top 5:
1. La Junta, CO
2. Worcester, MA
3. Lynchburg, VA
4. Welch, WV
5. Morehead, KY
