Note: There is a thread on this meet here http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=7016071 but we're pulling this result out of it as we bet many of you are not aware of it.
US junior star Mary Cain flew to Germany to race a 1500 today and had a very poor result finishing 2nd to last in 4:20.73.
1:45 into the race Cain was off the back. (The World television feed on BeIN Sports cut away for the pole vault so there is the possibility Cain fell but we don't think so). She'd run in no woman's land the rest of the way until the finish.
The pace upfront was not that fast as 800 was in 2:13.39. Axumawit Embaye would get the win over Germany's Konstanze Klosterhalfen.
It's the slowest 1500 we could find from Cain since 2011 according to all-athletics.com but there is a possibility she ran slower in a high school competition not in all-athletics.
We've reached out to her agent to see if she got tangled up in the first 3 laps.

Pretty expensive trip for what is looking more like a hobby instead of a career.

The winner runs the world lead and five others in the top 7 run PBs. That also does not bode well for her performance. I bet AlSal is glad he doesn't have to sugar coat her races anymore. -

There are worse ways to make money. -
I am so saddened :(

bet she's still faster than you and your girlfriend
^ yeah that's probably true, but he has a point. she's running times that some HS girls could come close to this year -

youtube. Nothing about a fall or anything unusual. -
I'd like to point something out with the talk of Cain, Webb, Drew Hunter, and others doping in high school.
I run in high school currently and YOU DO GET TESTED. In the state of Oklahoma, any athlete signs up for random testing any time during the school year and you can be tested as many times as you need to be. I was tested 3 times last year and I am slow as hell. I guarantee you that all the top high school runners get tested. -

State of Iowa has no such policy for any sport. -
The commentator does mention anything, neither that some women got entangled nor a fall. He is grasping for the usual boring straws like "soandso of nationalityX".

It was painful to hear the announcers talk about the HS phenom MC!, While she was Dead , F"cking, Last :(

The real commentators say something which I can't translate and neither could the British commentators who weren't paying attention to the race. They just heard Cains name spoken but don't know what was said. -
The stadion commentators just pointed out Mary Cain as world junior record holder. There also was no fall or entaglement I could discern in the stadion.
She just dropped off the pack. -
What a fall from grace

For the umpteenth time, Saladbar has monkeyed with Mary's running form. Her arms used to drive ACROSS her body....generating power; now they do not. "Efficiency" has robbed her of power......u gotta trust me on this, -
Usually the testing is for recreational drugs like marijuana and amphetamines. Technically blood doping is legal in most states at the high school level.

Looks like TV coverage is on BeIN regular network on Verizon fios from 11-1am tonight if you get this channel (in your parents basement)

100% agree. Watch her run that 2:03 800 split as a freshman. Supposedly bad form according to many who don't understand it.
It's time for her to realize she knew something intuitively that Salazar is unlikely ever to figure out. All she has to do is study how she used to run and let that happen again. And lean out a bit, unfortunately, which is not much fun. -

What we have is a classic case of why an elite high school athlete should not turn pro. Running in collegiate program may have benefited Mary more then the so called going pro approach, time will tell. Her today time would have been one of the fastest collegiate times this season.
