If he cannot recover from a 1/2 marathon in 4 weeks then he does not deserve to be on the Olympic team

Running a half at full marathon pace 4 weeks out, and racing a half all out (he's on 1:00:57 pace at 10k and his pr is 1:01:30) are two completely different things.
yeah, what could be the plan here? Drop after 7 or 8 miles? Back off immediately? And what happened to Estrada?
Looks like Sara Hall is putting in a legit effort also
The coverage on espn3 is awwwwwwwwwful.

Estrada did the smart thing and dropped off once he realized the pace was too hot. He's on 1:03 flat pace right now. Calling it right now, Estrada will beat Puskedra in the Trials.
1:01:29 for LUKE!! What the ???? So much for marathon pace!
Puskedra ~1:01:30 for 4th.

4 weeks out from the trials and he's blasting the half in Houston.
Who is to say he is blasting it? Maybe this is simply a good hard workout for Puskedra. Maybe building off Chicago he has taken his game to yet another level

Doubt it, Puskedra looked fresh as he finished.
He ran a 1 second pr then:
Place Overall Place Gender Place Division Name Gender State BIB Division Age Finish Net Finish Gun
4 4 4 » Puskedra, Luke (USA) Men OR 11 Elites 25 01:01:29 01:01:29
I have to admit, he did look pretty fresh at the finish. Guess we'll find out Feb 13.
Good run for Luke. Second American was Jim Spisak ?? I didn't see this name listed with the elites.

Really? Don't know who he is? We have been over this many times and he runs so many races!
Luke nailed it. A PB, I believe.
This course is fast but it also has a decent hill at mile ~12. Maybe worth a few extra seconds. Can someone chime in?
If he recovers well from this effort he looks like a top 3 candidate at the marathon trials. He is on the up and up again showing some consistency in his fitness. Would love to know how hard he ran this race today. Either way it's a great time(think this is his new PB) and I am rooting for him to make the olympics.
Marathon Trials are going to be very interesting, hope the weather is nice. Would be great to see a very competitive race all the way to the finish with 5-7 guys still in it.
Not sure how Luke will classify the overall effort of this morning's race, but he was in a major sprint duel with the 3rd place finisher (at least 12" shorter! ) towards the finish. Hoping he wasn't red lining it the whole way.
Not a workout. Race effort, and a bad decision to do so.
