Hello! Me again (If you don't recognize me, look up on the thread - I shouldn't be too far behind!)
As an update: I still drink pretty heavily with that specific group of friends, although not as heavily as before. Basically, when I go out with them, I have a good night, and everyone else does too. There's 7 people in the group, and I'm always towards the most drunk, or the most drunk. However, it's a genuinely nice night - it isn't always, or oftn, a "party bro" situation - at least not anymore. This indicates that I can match my drinking to the upper level of what those around me are doing. That's positive, as i don't drink outside these situations.
I am moving across the country in pursuit of a good career, imminently. The next few years will be at a faraway university ,in the same country, as a postgraduate, I would like to claim, when I arrive, that I only drink on special occasions (e.g: Xmas), and hold true to this. I can truly perform in just about any environment when there's no booze. Would this be a good idea?
Full disclosure: I've been out tonight, with a subsection of the group of 7 I mentioned above. I've had to proof-read my post a few times, and correct a few more typos than normal, but I believe that's normal for a young man with a close group of young male friends after a night out. Everything in the message holds true. I would love to gather your opinions on my plan, and in general, as it will inform my future actions. That's why I'm posting this, actually.
Thank you very much, and good luck all of you:
