How do you figure?Her half marathon PR is 1:08 XX so..Also, they just began marathon buildup, barely any speedwork.Additionally, not tapering for this at all, just coming down from altitude with lots of miles on the legs.She stated in the pre-race interview that she went into the fall pretty fresh as, if she makes the team, next year will be 2 high quality marathons is a relatively short span..Seems like she is planning to leave some in the tank assuming that she will make the team, which may be a bit of a gamble but is probably wise considering the field. That is, the goal is not to be in AR shape at the trials.The course was also likely not as fast as a marathon course you would attempt the AR on.

Flanagan's PR is 2:21; Hastings' is 2:27
1:12-high seems like appropriate effort for Hastings based on her PR
Did Shalane take it too easy? If one of her goals is the AR, shouldn't a tempo like this be more in the 1:08 range?
