I'm a hobby jogger, in a hobby jogger running club that has a facebook group. Everyone posts their workouts and race reports and whatnot.
Recently, Mo Trafeh joined. It's invite only, so I assume someone invited him. Now he posts workouts and invites people to long runs and track workouts with him. He hosts a weekly track session that a bunch of the club now attends.
It seems harmless and the group is mostly about encouragement but I still feel weird about it. Should I say anything or just go about my business?

Is he training with intent of returning to an elite level or just because he enjoys running?

Looks like he is trying to coach too. He has a website:
http://mofittraining.com/
Not sure if he is being open about his past. -

Doesn't seem to be lying on his website, isn't claiming any of his stripped records.
Not surprisingly he of course isn't advertising the fact that he was caught doping either.
He isn't banned from coaching, maybe it isn't a huge deal. I wouldn't go to any of his workouts personally and wouldn't associate with him in any way, but I'm not sure it is as big of a deal as if he had a ban from coaching (and not just competing). -
You should go. It's not like he doesn't have talent and knowledge that could still help you get in better shape and all. Looks like he may be trying to better himself so don't be one of the people who tries to put him back down and remind him of the past

actually, until he admits his past, fully and completely, then no, don't go and support a liar who refuses to admit his transgressions. IF and only IF he fully admits what he did, and starts to pay back ben true and everyone else, then sure, give him the PRIVILEGE of your company and show up to a workout. otherwise, stay the heck away from that db, b/c that's what he was and still is, until he shows some actual change.
-
Encourage him to talk to USADA about his supplier, other dopers for a reduced sanction. AFAIK he was still claiming innocence.
-
too funny. you too can get in on the boot camp action for 87% off! wow.

This.
...and let the other run club members know about his doping as well so that they can make an informed decision.
Drug cheats should not be involved in the sport in any way. If they can't handle that sentence, DON'T CHEAT! -

Get some of the good stuff from him.

funny to see this thread pop up--just yesterday i received a facebook friend request from the moniker "borntorun," which i accepted (i'll accept almost anyone's request, then unfollow afterwards if not relevant) figuring it was someone from the running community, and we did have a number of mutual friends, all runners. once i clicked on his page and realized who it was (and, like described, he's hosting/coaching workouts with youth and adults and posting pics and inspirational quotes), i quickly unfriended him, but had to wonder if our mutual friends know who he is.
i've thought about posting something about his identity, but part of me doesn't want to appear to be a judgmental a-hole. of course, i AM a judgmental a-hole when it comes to this, but i'm generally a private judgmental a-hole... -
I really don't think he should be involved in coaching at any level. All his experience of training himself was WHILE DOPING, so what d'you think he's going to recommend when he gets a good athlete?

It's not "your" running club as you call it. I bet people probably want your entitled arse out too. Boo hoo.

I remember the good old days when Mo Trafeh and Mo Farah were running about the same times!!

Settle down bud. OP never said it was his/her club nor did they mention wanting to kick anyone out. Just asking an opinion. You okay? Anything you want to talk about? Something going on at home maybe? -
Forgot about the title. Still, settle down

I bet you could learn nearly as much from Darth Vader as you could from Yoda.

Since he can't make money running, he's going to try to make money coaching. Fvck that. Discourage people from relating to him on any basis related to running.
