As a 27yo man, is it wrong to date an 18yo girl?

well it's legal, but I wouldn't do it. No matter how smart and mature she may seem, she's still only 18. That's a pretty big gap of life experience and maturity to bridge.

Half your age plus 7. Seems to be a good general rule.

Life experience and maturity are not dependent on age.

I think it is more a reflection of your own immaturity than her maturity, although many women tend to mature faster than men. Once you get more serious about life, you won't be interested in anything long term with an 18 year old at your age. It will be fun for awhile, but that's it.

lol i did this last year. i even visited her home 20 miles away and her mum said "all i know about you is that you're 27 and you're vegan". i sometimes stayed over for 3 days in a row and her mum even made me food at one point. i think i got away with it because i only look 22.

her sister thought it was weird though. i was playing WoW on her laptop and her sister was on mic saying "so what's it feel like to be screwing someone who was 9 when you were 18?" i said i like to touch kids and she got a bit pissed...

So you were in a trailer park. To answer the original question if you pulled in my driveway to drop my daughter off and I knew your age I would walk out and sucker punch you in the face.

But I am old school with grandkids.

Not wrong at all my friend. I am currently 38 and my girlfriend is 20. About a year or two ago when I was single I hooked up with an 18 yr old. Good times.

I would explore the relationship just based on the fact you had a three hour conversation and you both felt comfortable with it.

I agree maturity is not a function of age but time is required to develop that innate maturity.

I've had a lifetime of dating and believe me dating for the joy companionship brings is vastly different than dating as a step in the courting dance.

I find the journey of getting to know someone is in itself worth the effort no matter the final destination be friendship or life long love.

Life is meant to be lived- go live it but with eyes open and brain engaged.

Oh, but they are. Any responsible 27 year old is way more mature than an 18 year old. Now if the ages were like 27/25 you might have a point.

When I was 27 I dated an 18 year old girl.

We got along great, though we only saw each once or twice a week.

Her mom did not approve from the first date (that she knew of).

We snuck around and the stress of that got to her so we agreed to end after about 7 months.

Maybe we would have drifted apart on our own but I'll never know.

Society doesn't approve.

And that's a tough weight to carry around.
