Take a look at these bad boys on ebay. They're the special issue colors (Nike sponsored athletes) of one of the best racing shoes of all time. I can't believe how much they're selling for. That's crazy!

haha, well if you were interested in buying them, i'm pretty sure you screwed yourself by posting that here, considering a bunch of people here would bid that for a lot more money
more than 300 bucks?!
Way out of my price range, but the trip down memory lane was free.
How about some Spiridons?

How about these waffle spikes?

I have a pair of the neon green waffle racers from the early 80's. I doubt I would ever sell them though. I wore them for a couple years and loved them.
I had a pair of Henry Rono's personal Elites (brown with green swoosh). I did what I thought was best - ran in them 'til they wore out. Who knows what they'd sell for today?
I know the feeling. I am a pack rat and had saved all my running shoes since I started (1975). Over time, I've given some away to kids I've coached. I could retire on the amount I could've sold them for on ebay. I still have a couple of pairs, but I can not believe that someone is willing to pay $300+ for decades old used shoes.
Not sure this is right as I am not an Ebay expert, but if you look at the bidding, yousuke1982 bid his own bid up and two of his bids were spaced out by about 10 seconds.
Why would someone bid the item up themselves if the auction wasn't ending?
I had the green Waffle Racers, the Nike Daybreak, the Internationalist, the orange Universe XC spike, the Zoom D, the Vanquier (green-yellow-orange) spike, the Aurora, the Pegasus and the lame Flame spike, and oh yeah, the Eagles and I think they made a red-wht-blu pair with a thicker sole called the American Eagle ... but those got stolen out of my locker.

It probably means that someone else was bidding and yousuke1982's proxy bid kept out-bidding that person. You can put in a maximum bid on an auction, which will allow you to continue to incrementally out-bid others even if you aren't logged in. As others bid, the proxy bid will just ratchet up and up until either they stop bidding or they out-bid the amount set as the highest proxy bid.
With two hours to go these shoes are close to $500. WTF!
You know what I say . . .
...hundreds of thousands are without food, water and shelter
and this jackoff is blowing $500 on old sneakers??
They closed at over $800. This is obscene.
I e mailed the auction "winner". I hope I wasn't too subtle:
"Around the world people are starving, dying of disease and homeless. In asia orphaned children are dying alone of starvation in whats left of their villages.
You, on the other hand, just spent more than $800
USD on an old pair of sneakers. You are a disgrace to the human race. On behalf of those who are dying, homeless and/or orphaned I extend to you a most sincere
F*CK YOU!!"

Those of you who are e bay members can click on thr auction link above, click on the winners ID, log in and express yourself personally. Who am I to judge you say? Nobody really, but I think it's safe to say and I'm sure most will agree: now is not exactly the best time to be dumping a grand on a pair of old Nikes.
We live in a materialistic society...I'm 100% certain that we all possess things that we truely do not need and would be considered as excess to many - too nice of a car (why not ride a bike...walk?)...eat beans and rice and not meat...ditch the computer and instead of being online on LetsRun we could be overseas helping those in need...buy used clothes and donate every penny that one doesn't need to survive.
Perhaps the chap that bought the Nikes contributes in his own other ways? We have no way to know. I'd give him a break.
You crybaby. Go burn down an art gallery.
You know what's funny? Virtually every Lets Run thread ends the same way. Somebody doesn't like what somebody else did/said/thought and tells them to #*@!! off.
If somebody paying $800 for a pair of used shoes is the worst thing that happens in the world today, how bad is that? Apparently the guy really, really wants the shoes.
Yeah, he's probably just bitter because he got outbid! :)
