Also forgot to mention Jimmy Butler could and should be the man for the job. Give him 3 recruiting classes (maybe less) and Wake would be at nationals.

They're college kids at a top 30 school. Think about not only the athletics they have to focus on, but also the rigorous academic schedule, along with the social life they need as college students. Half of the team is freshmen and not only that, but the top crew faced both injuries and sicknesses all throughout the season. So... you can't directly correlate one night of going out and running. Also, kind of weird you go around stalking these kids when none of it directly involves you.
Looks like they're focusing more on mid-d. They had an All-American in the 1500 as well as some strong freshman and sophomore mid-d guys last year.
They also have a really good mid-d freshman class, two international blue-chip recruits who will help them in the track season.
They also didn't run their top xc freshman who had gotten better as the season went on ( he was their top runner at the princeton invitational ). probably injured, but another guy to solidify their top 5 would have done a little to make sure they didn't finish that far back
"Social life they need"????? You are clearly a guy on the team and someone who doesn't get it. You are a part of the problem, not the solution.
reason: its a waste of tuition/scholarship money and actions contradict words. They want to be great but aren't really willing to sacrifice the "social life" for that greatness. It's all good though if 14 out of 15 is what you are willing to accept. Time as always will tell. Best solution of course is to be mindful of what you put out there as it is a reflection of not just you but the institution and program you are representing. Privatize and lock your social profiles unless of course there is nothing to hide. Go Deacs! Now keep reading...I'm not alone in my opinion.

My thoughts exactly!
What social media stuff are you talking about? I tried to do what you said and don't see anything concerning...

Remember, we're talking about a team with enough history that an entire friggin workout is named after their program (Wake Forest drill).
I've heard of - and ran - The Michigan, but I've never heard of "The Wake Forest Drill." Just a local/Southern thing perhaps?
Go to roster then look up by name. Pretty simple: actions don't fit "we want to be great statements". There will be no greatness without sacrificing "social" needs.
This thread had me interested to see how this team would do at regionals. Looks like their result at the ACC meet was only the tip of the iceberg. My SEC alma mater is bad, but even they aren't this bad.
The schools who beat Wake who shouldn't includes: George Mason, Davidson, Liberty, High Point, App State, Richmond, VMI, Charlotte, Elon and Morehead State. I'd be okay with Clemson. They sometimes have had a decent guy or two.
Teams who put their top 7 in front of Wake's first guy: Virginia, E. Kentucky, Furman, Virginia Tech, Clemson. Only 5 schools with scores had a #1 worse than Wake's: Murray State (27th), Radford (29th), Col of Charleston (30th), Longwood (31st) and Presbyterian (32nd).
Maybe the most telling state is that NC A&T had a freshman who beat everyone from Wake's team. A&T isn't exactly a distance powerhouse. In fact, they only lined up three guys. Two of those three cracked Wake's top three.
So, what's next for these guys? They return 4 of their top 7, but only one was a freshman. Is the cupboard bare? Do they have some good freshmen that they redshirted and could help them improve next year?
Let's be realistic. Wake is a little 4,800 student school trying to compete against the Giants in the ACC . It has 16 sports to support . Basketball is king, football eats up a huge budget, soccer and golf are top notch. After that, there is only so much funding to spread around. Wake cross-country has generally been mediocre for awhile . It probably won't change.
Shut up.
How come Furman can do it? Even smaller school, equally expensive, but unlike Wake they have ZERO national 'name recognition'
Wake coaches are asleep at the wheel...or just bad. Only explanation.

THIS.
Coaching. If Furman staff was at Wake, they'd have a trophy in a couple years.
I'd agree with you on this, Wake's recruiting classes are generally solid and there are lots of other hard academic schools that are nationally competitive or at the very least top 15 in their regions. Not only are hunt and millar poor coaches but the administration doesn't offer them much help. Get new coaches and Wake would fair much better
Furman got it done on the men's side but their women are awful. Didn't even field a full team this year at regionals. Yes I know they have great recruiting class coming it they haven't done a ton either kids they have right now.
NCAA Regionals is an all-comers meet. Furman brought 2 women and one of them qualified as an individual (again). I like when coaches make a stand and don't just waste money to go get 10th or worse.
Biggest problem is coaching set-up. Brad coaches the women and Millar the men and each team is almost cheering against the other.
Furman's women will be just fine. Off year with injury and a great recruiting class to the rescue.
Wake Forest had a bright spot yesterday in the performance of Samantha jones where she claimed all American honors. This is the first time in years that Wake Forest has had an all American in cross country.
Looks now like one of there signees is set to quit running and make his own mix tape fancying himself some sort of rapper. That will work out well.
