Imagine a race set up between Fisher and Verzbicas (Before he nearly died). Both 2 time Footlocker champs, Both Sub-4 milers, Both with fantastic range.
In a head to head race with no pacers who'd win?

LV, duh.
The only times LV lost was due to going out crazy fast (going out in 4:14 in a 2 mile vs the Rosa twins comes to mind).
When it came to cross country, he never lost. Never. Three years and three national championships (also won at NXN).
Does Fisher get say, 6 months on the E European "regimen" that LV was obviously on?
You'd have to make the race between senior year Fisher and 6th grade grampa LV. That's when they were the same age.

Fisher would have no chance at any distance from mile-5000. He barely beat LVs mile, in a pro race perfectly paced from the gun. LV ran it in a high school race and they went through 800 in like 2:03. Oh, and it was windy and raining a little I believe. The 2 mile wouldn't even be a race. Fisher wasn't even #1 at that event this year.
LV graduated a year early. LV was 3 months older than Fisher in their last year in HS.
Sorry man, I wasn't the biggest fan (not a big hater either) but Fisher would have no chance... LV was another level.
Head to head, Fisher could out dribble, out pass, out shoot, out score Verzbicas in any soccer match, any place, any time!
Didn't LV run like 8:29 for two miles? That's an absurdly fast time that Fisher couldn't have come close to last year. Fisher also took multiple sub 4 attempts and barely made it on one, LV had a one off attempt in bad weather with crap pacing and still did it. I think LV wins everything mile and above, including XC
Verzbicas without a doubt. He was just so smooth and efficient compared to Fisher.
Verzbicas 10 times out of 10

Yes, Verzbicas was an amazing HS runner - one of the greatest. We can all applaud his coming back from a terrible injury suffered during triathlon training. Unfortunately for him, there was much controversy surrounding his age and he never did accomplish much while at University - which of course he decided to cut short to pursue the sport of triathlon.
Guaranteed, Grant Fisher will ultimately be the better runner of the two and will run faster times than Verzbicas in the not too distant future (most likely his freshman year in college). What that might mean when compared to the age controversy of Verzbicas - I'll leave that up to you.
Having some fun with some LRC posters that take HS running so seriously and have a tendency to knock so many wonderful young athletes versus their favorite... I guarantee Grant Fisher is the best soccer player turned mid-distance runner in US HS history. He could have easily played Power 5 D1 soccer. And who knows, in time, he may become the best soccer player turned runner in US history period.
Verzbicas fo' sho'.
What's he been up to lately? Still competing in triathlons?

Are you implying that Grant Fisher will run better than 3:50, 12:58, 26:44 and win Olympic Gold?
The current best soccer player turned runner is pretty damn impressive.
Do you know when GR gave up soccer?
Was he actually any good or did he just play on the travel team in elementary school?

...
There wasn't much controversy over his age, as in his actual age. People complained that he was a year too old for his current grade level. At which point he skipped 11th grade and graduated at a normal HS age. Whether or not 14:18i is a freshman record, who cares? Any HS kid at any age running 14:18 is elite, let alone at 16.
LV, no question

Not implying that at all. Those are very lofty times indeed and only one person with the initials of GR could claim those times.
I said best soccer player turned runner. Grant was by far a better soccer player than GR and could clean GR's clock on a soccer pitch today. GF made multiple regional ODP teams, was on the US U14 national team pool, played for the USA in Costa Rica, gave up playing academy soccer so he could focus on running.
