How good do you want to be?
Start running easy doubles. Just 30 minutes here or there. Probably best to start this in the offseason so you aren't jeopardizing your ability to recover in-season with all the workouts already. Realistically you aren't going to improve much in the next month by doing what we say in addition to the load your coach has already started. Think longterm. Doubling is going to help you a lot.
P.S. Without seeing the actual workouts I like your coach's schedule a lot (assuming you take Sunday off). Remember that you're young. Hopefully your volume increases a little each year, but don't try to force it right now.
Yep! I love this advice! I did some doubles over the summer before this season. But stopped when the season started. I will resume them again for track off season. And believe it or not, that is one area I disagree with my coach on (I know we are not supposed to disagree but I know my body). I take Sundays off but our coach wants us taking every other Sunday off which I do not do.
And something else I have done is a nice steady progressive mileage throughout high school. 15-25 miles per week freshman year, 30-35 sophomore year. 45-50 miles this year. I will either max at 50 or 60 my high school career depending on how I feel and deal with the mileage.
