First, I should start by saying that I completely support transgender people and their right live a completely normal life. This being said, however, this particular case is more complex than a simple right or wrong. Being 16 years old myself and a runner and swimmer I have experienced locker rooms enough to say I'm pretty comfortable in them, but I have to say I do support the girls walking out in this situation. AS A YOUNG GIRL I AM NOT COMFORTABLE WITH CHANGING IN FRONT ON OR SEEING A MALE CHANGING. This is not because I am close minded or transphobic, it is simply because I am a young girl and I do not wish be made uncomfortable by her male parts in a situation where I am vaunerable.
You realize that there was a point in history that people said the exact same things about negroes. "I'm not close minded but I would be very uncomfortable going to the bathroom with a black woman. Also, I have black friends"
What else are you uncomfortable with? someone with stumps for legs? A mentally challenged and physically deformed person? what about a person with internal testes.
The point is that you...not the person...is the real problem here. They don't find into your narrow sheltered existence, so you paint them into a corner they don't fit. They feel female, their mind tells them they are female, they have always felt that way so the fact that they have boy parts doesn't change that,
you need to grow up girlfriend.
