Lastly, how many times do people have to point out to you that we aren't a socialist country, that paying people based on their need is not what is happening here, and that we aren't advocating for an ever-expanding base of freeloaders? You do understand that there is a spectrum of government support between "no assistance" and "the state owns everything and ever person is paid the same", right? We would agree that welfare reform is necessary, but your painting the inaccurate picture that liberals just want to hand out goodies to solidify a voting base that keeps voting for more goodies is NOT HELPING SOLVE ANYTHING.
We are most definitely a socialist country, and lawless one as well.
Our base of freeloaders is expanding at an alarming rate:
Number of people on food stamps when Obama took office: ~33 million
Number on food stamps now: ~47 million
http://www.trivisonno.com/wp-content/uploads/Food-Stamps-Yearly.jpgThe labor force participation rate has dropped from 65.7% to 62.6%.
http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS11300000Social Security and Medicare are purely socialist policies, Ponzi schemes actually.
ObamaCare is designed to destroy the private health care industry so that everyone is forced to turn to government run health care.
Under Obama, the Federal government took over the student loan program and now, without any market force to check the growth of College costs, the annual fees have grown to confiscatory levels where few degrees can justify the cost. This is pure socialism, designed precisely to make students dependent on government handouts to get into college, and then to beg for leniency when they can't pay back the loans after graduation.
Crony capitalism is putting the government in charge of picking which companies succeed, and which fail.
http://mashable.com/2015/06/02/elon-musk-government-incentives/Liberals ARE handing out goodies to create a majority of voters who depend on them, and use the power of the government to crush anyone who challenges their monopoly on power... and as they do it, the economy strains under the weight. Growth is very slow. People are giving up, even as the appearance of prosperity continues. Just like in Atlas Shrugged.
The problem is always the same:
The moment you allow government to give away money to buy votes, you're society is doomed to fail.
The solution is always the same:
Limit your government to protecting the individual's rights to
life,
liberty,
and property.
Anything less is a dereliction of duty.
Anything more is an abuse of power.
If that sounds radical then take it up with the founding fathers, because that just happens to be the law of the land as codified in the Constitution.
You want a solution?
Make the Federal Government obey it's own damn laws!
