This summer, in comparison to my past high school training, I had decided to completely dedicate myself to my running. I was coming off of m most sucucessful season on the track and was really excited. My highest mileage previously was probably around 50 miles, this summer I hit 70. My quickest 2.5 mile tempo was about 5:20 pace, 2 weeks ago I ran one at 5:06 pace. Everything was going really, really well up until 2 weeks ago. After hitting 70 , which was a struggle in itself and I was really pushing for at the end of the week, I developed a headache and began to cramp a lot while running. I trained through it for about 10 days, but never felt as good as I had. On monday I was supposed to be doing a hill workout, but I was barely able to run the three miles I had planned beforehand. I decided to call off the hill workout and take the next few days off. 2 days later, I still have a headache, am very tight, and my body keeps warming up extremely quickly which leads to an itchy tingling sensation that I typically get when I am sick. How should I handle this? I'm fearful that all my commitment will go to waste and I really do not want that to happen.
