Crushes a 3:41 to beat the Canadians and everyone else.

Just how horrible is the commentating? Those guys are complete idiots. This is why no one watches Track.
Wow super so he beats a bunch of over the hills and never gonna be's
No worse than typical American commentators. Maybe just the Canadian version of Larry Rawson.
Splits?
Looks like even splits to 3:01 at 1200 for the leader. So 39.high to 40.low close for the medalists. Wheating won by about 2 tenths over Brannen who just edged out CPT for the silver.
Brannen and CPT just ran 3:35 and 3:34, respectively so this looks to be a good sign for Wheating.
I think 53.xx for the last 400m.
Probably, couldn't have closed any slower than 40.x based on splits.
I have to say, I have long been a Merber supporter, but this was/is a good spot for him and to be 2+ off that kind of winning time is not that great, simply said.
Also a merber fan...he has had a great season though and hopefully he learns from today and continues to improve in training .
An amazing win!! That's got to be worth at least a 3:59 mile🐌
I don't mind Larry Rawson, he is a goofball but has pretty good knowledge and can be fun to listen too. Tom Hammond and Carol Lewis are the worse. I haven't seen Lewis in a while though, maybe she got canned.

Go USA!!!
Wheating was at 1100m at about 2:46.5, 1200m at 3:01.04 and 1300m at about 3:14.6. finish in 3:41.41. So, final 400m in 54.9, 300m in 40.37, and 200m in 26.8. He ran plenty of extra distance during the race through the penultimate turn. Good to see him get some hardware and hope it carries over into the post-World's European season.
Thanks for finding the video.
Andy has been nicked up a bit now and then but is still hungry. No one should doubt that.
Classic Americans. Guy wins your country a gold medal at the Pan Ams and you guys criticize him. Pathetic.
there are two posts criticizing him, the others don't.
Do you people have any idea how pedestrian this time is?
Ron Delaney of Ireland won the 1956 olympic 1500 in this time and it wasn't even considered that good back then. It took Herb Elliott to push the real limits in 1960 Rome to 3:35.6.
59 years ago. Good grief.

Yes, we do. It is called racing not a time trial or world record attempt. Try to enjoy the sport.
How about "racing" with excellence. After being a fan for 60 years, this kind of racing, accompanied by poor commentators has taken all interest away. This a major sport at one time. Pathetic.
