Rowbury's association with NOP just makes this feel dirty. I wish Simpson had beaten her to the record.
That being said, two American women going sub 3:58 in the same race? Didn't think I'd live to see the day.

That whole meet has a stinky smell to it.
I'd prefer it to be Simpson and Rowbury was drafting off of Simpson almost the whole way and so had an advantage as usual, because of Simpson's style, but Simpson still ran 3:57.30 after a disappointing last race and she will be back. I wouldn't be surprised if she does run a 3:55 in another Dibaba special.
Dibaba, by the way, closed in close to 2:02 flat (1:48.1-1:48.2-3:50.1)!
Not going to lie: So damn happy for Shannon!!
So Simpson running that level is clean because she is Simpson, but Rowbury running that level means she is dirty?

I don't know if Shannon is on drugs or not, but your claim is not what the OP claimed, and if you can't understand what he was saying, then you've been living under a rock for the past month.

Did not look like she was wearing that god awful lipstick she was wearing indoors. What she doesn't love grandma anymore?
Haven't liked Rowbury as much since she joined NOP. And her tactics at races last year in particular didn't help. Not sure if she's doper but nope, don't like her anyway.
just on a personal note I'd rather Simpson had done it , but this gave me new respect for rowbury: https://instagram.com/p/4fZB0gE0T4/

i am sure Simpson is touched by the letsrun loser fan boy club
i am equally sure Rowbury doesn't give a f*ck
and finally I think if simpson wants to beat rowbury, she needs to run faster
back to your group hug everyone
Jenny & Shannon both annoy me.
But Shannon annoys me a metric f*ton more than Jenny.
I can't tell you why. Maybe I'm misogynistic. Doubt it though. It's just those two. But really Shannon. Every interview is eye-roll inducing.
That race where she ran practically 8 lanes across trying to obstruct didn't help.

Yeah, this did too.
I was a huge Rowbury fan before NOP. I can't put my finger on why but I just have a bad taste when I see her race now. She's not my favorite.
Whatever, though, she just broke the American Record by almost a second so good for her.
I'm just hoping Jenny can take it.

You remember that time you won the only race of your life in middle school? I thought timmy should have beaten you, and that would have made me feel better about myself. But whatever.
And Simpson wasn't drafting off anyone at all during the race.... /s
If it's any consolation, Simpson is way more bummed than you!
She's also way more gracious, which is especially impressive since she's the one who didn't get what she wanted.
Am I the only one who's a little baffled as to why LRC isn't making a bigger deal out of Rowbury breaking the AR? It's almost as if the Rowbury story is a footnote to Dibaba's story. I agree the bulk of the attention should be on Dibaba. After all, she did something most people thought couldn't be done.
But so did Rowbury. She broke a long standing American record, and she broke it convincingly. Yet she doesn't get mentioned on the special splash page. If you went to the home page to find out who'd broken Slaney's record, you'd probably think it was Simpson. There's a big quote from her about setting the AR front and center. Rowbury only shows up as a small sub-headline under the Dibaba headline. The link leads to a very nice story on Shannon, which is buried way down in the story about Dibaba.
I don't think this is consistent with how LRC usually treats people who set American records. Why not give at least give Rowbury her own article? Look how much attention Evan J. got last week. His name is still on the home page. He's called "brave" and "beautiful." Rowbury? She was "paced by Simpson."
I hate to say it, but I wonder whether the management would be so blasé if Simpson had set the record.
I'm not really a Rowbury fan. I'm actually close to the OP. But I am a big ban of fairness. If you are going to make a big deal when runners you like break American records, it is only fair that you make a big deal even when runners you don't like break American records.

Correct. She led the chase pack.
She isn't on the splash page because she finished 6 seconds behind the winner of a 1500m race.
Jenny's QOTD was before the race.
The focus is on Dibaba because she broke the world record.
Her performance was mentioned plenty in the recap of the race.
